On July 4, 2024, at 11:21 pm, a delivery man noticed the campus map outside the elevator on the first floor of the Comprehensive Building of National Tsing Hua University being labeled with 'Leave the Island, Not the People' in red ink. This sparked an online discussion due to the sensitive cross-strait implications. The original poster criticized the act and questioned how the university would deal with it. Following this incident, the school stated that the slogan has been removed by the cleaning staff, and they will be more vigilant to prevent similar occurrences. Although the act may be punishable under waste disposal laws, it doesn't meet the criteria for criminal intimidation. Many netizens expressed anger towards the slogan originating from the Chinese Communist Party's radical reunification stance, with some suggesting the person responsible return to their preferred ancestral country.
