A recent poster circulating online states that the deity Guan Yu from Tainan's Yu Zhi Wu Hsuan Shrine will 'marry' the Mazu from the historic Beisanwei Lu'er Men Tianhou Temple. This news sparked criticism, with netizens particularly angered by the shrine's unauthorized renaming of Mazu to 'Guan Mazu' in the poster, challenging the values of both deities' followers. In response, the shrine stated that the deities' actions do not need interference from netizens and urged people to refrain from negative comments and maintain decorum. The temple being 'married' to is merely a propaganda poster, and the Lu'er Men Tianhou Temple clarified that they do not endorse the idea of a 'marriage ceremony'.
