Taipei City Council Speaker Dai Xiqin held a party caucus meeting to discuss allowing the popular band Mayday to host a New Year's Eve concert at Taipei Dome. The Blue and White councillors plan to submit a joint proposal next week requesting the city government to issue a permit for the dome, despite tension with the DPP councillors over the matter. The process faces opposition and uncertainty, with the council and city officials still at odds over resolving the issue. Mayday, Jay Chou, and A-mei have reportedly shown interest in holding concerts at the dome as well, adding to the ongoing controversy.
