Following the release on bail of former Taoyuan mayor Zheng Wen-Can who faces corruption charges, Taoyuan District Court ruled for a NT$5 million bail and imposed travel restrictions, sparking controversy. Taoyuan City Councilor Ling Tao questioned the judge overseeing the case, pointing out that her father was formerly a subordinate of Zheng, which raised concerns of bias. The court responded, clarifying that the judge had rotated shifts before the case and had proper authorization. Despite the judge's father's past connection to Zheng, the court emphasized no legal conflict of interest and affirmed the impartiality of the proceedings amidst public scrutiny.
