The private shrine in Tainan, 'Tainan Yuzhi Wu Xuantan,' recently sparked controversy by releasing a poster for a deity 'marriage alliance,' combining 'Beishanwei Lu'er Men Mazu Temple,' now referred to as 'Heavenly Guan Sheng Mu,' which led to a public outcry. The Lu'er Men Mazu Temple demanded an apology and threatened legal action against Wu Xuantan for conducting the event without authorization. The shrine's explanation that it was an internal event without additional ceremonies did not appease devotees, who criticized the move. Furthermore, a leaked price list revealed services such as resolving disputes, communicating with pets and deceased, with netizens questioning the shrine's intentions and calling it a 'cult'.
