Controversy Surrounds Public Shaming of Unmanned Noodle Shop Owner! Colleague Remarks '20 Packs of Noodles Stolen in One Month': Running a Business is Tough

Reported about 1 year ago

A dispute arose at an unmanned noodle shop in South District, Taichung, where two customers accused the owner of publicly shaming them by uploading their dining videos on the shop's fan page without any censorship. The owner's direct and tough methods led to criticism, with industry insider Mr. Chen mentioning that managing unmanned noodle shops is challenging. He noted incidents of food waste, theft, and lack of payment, emphasizing the importance of food quality at self-service bars. In addition to food waste issues, unmanned shops also face theft problems, with Mr. Chen mentioning cases of stolen ingredients and instant noodles, where more than 20 packs were stolen in a month. The shop owner's harsh personality in the incident was deemed inappropriate for public shaming customers, leading to the involved parties reporting to the police station for three incidents involving theft and damage to reputation. It is advised by the police station to handle consumer disputes rationally and to refrain from personal attacks in online comments to avoid potential defamation issues.
