At a convenience store near a nightclub in Taipei's Xinyi District on June 23, 2024, at 1:00 AM, a customer became angry when asked by a clerk if he had paid, threatening and hitting the clerk, causing a commotion inside the store. A 33-year-old Australian man intervened, subdued the troublemaker, and took him outside. If not for the heroic act of the Australian man, the female clerks could have been seriously injured. The police later confirmed that the man had indeed paid. The Australian man, who happened to be a former student at National Taiwan University, decided to intervene during the incident while purchasing chocolate at the store, ultimately preventing a potential assault on the clerks. The man got injured during the scuffle, but his help prevented a more serious outcome. People are reminded to reject violence and seek help if needed.
