Cool Down! Crowds Flock to Pingtung's 'Er Feng Zhen' for Water Fun

Reported 8 months ago

As the weather heats up, a hidden gem for cooling off and water play has emerged in Pingtung, believed to be a waterworks system left behind from the Japanese era. Initially obscure, the county government held commemorative events to raise awareness, making it a popular spot with shallow enough waters to reach only adults' waists. The clear, almost transparent water attracts visitors equipped with swimsuits and floating rings, while some simply dip their feet in the water. The 'Er Feng Zhen' completed in 1923 to address local flooding in the rainy season and water scarcity in dry periods is now attracting both locals and tourists seeking relief from the hot weather by immersing in its waters.
