Corn futures are up at midday, with prices gaining 2 to 2½ cents, while the national average cash corn price has increased to $3.81 1/4. With mid-October approaching, the average close for December futures is $4.18, which is lower than February's price of $4.70 but higher than last year's harvest price of $4.16. Harvesting efforts are set to continue in the Western Corn Belt despite some yields falling below expectations.
