Corruption Scheme between Cleaning Staff and Illegal Waste Collectors!

Reported 12 months ago

During an inspection by the Taichung City Environmental Protection Bureau on July 2, 2024, they discovered a corruption scheme involving cleaning staff who colluded with illegal waste collectors to charge between 1000 to 2000 Taiwan dollars per vehicle based on the weight of the garbage, assisting in the unauthorized transportation of waste to the Wuri Incineration Plant. The cleaning staff and illegal waste collectors were eventually charged with corruption and violations of waste disposal laws, with bail amounts set at 150,000 and 100,000 respectively. The scheme involved 141 illegal waste transports, resulting in one staff member receiving 128,000 Taiwan dollars in kickbacks and another profiting nearly 360,000 Taiwan dollars, leading to their dismissal and prosecution for corruption and other offenses.
