During a council questioning in June last year, Taipei City councilor Wang Shi-jian criticized a village chief for causing a conflict by forcibly removing an iMailbox in front of the village office, referring to the chief as insulting to police, specializing in bad deeds, and a big villain. The village chief sued Wang for public insult and defamation, but after reaching a settlement, the chief withdrew the complaint and Taipei Prosecutors Office decided not to prosecute. The incident sheds light on the political disputes involving local officials and lawmakers in Taiwan.
