As the 35th Golden Melody Awards ceremony was approaching, it was revealed that two mainland Chinese singers, Qu De and Xu Jun, nominated for this year's Mandarin Song King award, announced their sudden absence from the event due to personal reasons. Qu De had previously been nominated multiple times and was considered a popular candidate for Song King. Both singers' companies confirmed their non-attendance, attributing it to personal and work-related reasons. The Ministry of Culture explained that due to various factors, including personal schedules, some individuals, including Qu De, had to cancel their attendance. Qu De's team had arrived in Taiwan earlier but left abruptly before the ceremony began, while Xu Jun, who was listed as attending, ultimately did not enter the country.
