On June 15, 2024, South Korean defector group 'Freedom North Korea Movement Union' sent drifting balloons filled with anti-Kim Jong-un flyers, some US dollars, and 5,000 USB drives containing South Korean pop music (K-Pop) to North Korea in response to recent provocations from the latter, including military reconnaissance satellite launches and fecal balloons. This action comes after South Korea decided to suspend the '919 military agreement' with North Korea on June 4, escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula. The group aims to retaliate against North Korea's practice of sending garbage-filled balloons to South Korea.
