The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported that in the past week, there were 932 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Taiwan, with complications, marking an increase from the previous week. Additionally, 64 new deaths were recorded in the same period, with individuals aged 65 and above accounting for a significant percentage. The CDC warned of the rising trend in the pandemic situation and the possibility of entering a plateau phase by mid-July. Surveillance data also revealed an increase in the JN.1 variant strain, emphasizing the need to monitor the changing trends in both the epidemic and variant strains.
