On July 2, 2024, there were 64 new deaths related to COVID-19, with 932 new cases reported in a single week, setting a new high. The Central Epidemic Command Center announced that last week (6/25-7/1) saw 932 new locally confirmed cases of COVID-19 (including complications), an increase from the previous week's 815 cases. The elderly aged 65 and above accounted for 79% of accumulated cases with complications, and 90% of deaths among those aged 65 and above. It is estimated that by mid-July, the number of infected individuals may reach 60,000 as the nation enters a high plateau phase.
