As the sixth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic hits, the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a warning, estimating that the peak will be reached before mid-July with a possibility of over 100,000 cases in a single week. Despite not reintroducing the mask mandate, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has introduced four major strategies, including weekly press conferences and stockpiling of epidemic prevention supplies. However, concerns in the medical field arise due to a shortage of the antiviral drug 'Molnupiravir,' with long-term care facilities worried about not easing prescription restrictions leading to a potential surge in deaths. The CDC has reassured by procuring 20,000 doses of the drug and ensuring it can be used after evaluation by physicians.
