The sixth wave of COVID-19 has hit Taiwan, with the number of visits expected to peak in mid-July, surpassing 100,000 per week. Health officials advise seeking medical attention promptly if experiencing symptoms and starting antiviral medication within 24 hours for the best treatment outcome. Although the situation is escalating, mandatory mask mandates will not be reintroduced as COVID-19 is no longer classified as a statutory infectious disease, but mask-wearing is strongly recommended especially in crowded areas.
