As COVID-19 cases surge, latest data from the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control shows a near doubling of confirmed cases and deaths compared to the previous week. Even frontline ENT physicians report that about half of the patients tested positive; including Dr. Zhang Hong who highlighted on Facebook that the KP.2 variant is highly contagious and cautioned about the increased positivity rates in fast-screening. Expert predictions suggest a peak in diagnoses could come in July as hospital wards are filling up with COVID patients. It is advised for the public to get vaccinated promptly.
