In the 2024 mid-season draft, the CTBC Brothers selected power hitter Hsu Shao-Yu from Pingzhen High School in the fourth round. Hsu Shao-Yu expressed his regret for not being teammates with his friend Wang Po-Jung and mentioned that he initially wanted to join the Taichung Guardians but ended up with the Brothers, his second choice. Despite missing out on playing with Wang Po-Jung, Hsu Shao-Yu found consolation in his high school teammate Hsu Ting-Lun also being selected by the Brothers, whom he roomed with during their time in the U18 national team.
