In the 35th CPBL Midseason Draft, new CPBL team TaiSteel Eagles selected Wu Nian-ting in the first round without surprise. However, despite having previously signed a self-cultivation contract with Zhang Yi, the TaiSteel Eagles missed out on selecting him in the second round due to interference from the Fubon Guardians. After spending half a season together, strong bonds have formed between the TaiSteel team and Zhang Yi, with head coach Hung I-Chung expressing his blessings on the spot and jokingly saying 'Don't go too hard on us.' Zhang Yi, a talented player in Japan, unexpectedly went undrafted in the first round but was later picked by the Fubon Guardians in the second round, leaving TaiSteel Eagles without the chance to pick their friend. The Fubon Guardians plan to use Zhang Yi mainly in relief, as he has had previous injury concerns. Fostered by friendship, respect, and professionalism, the CPBL continues to witness exciting talent selections in its drafts.
