According to TTV News on June 10, 2024, Lamigo Monkeys' minor league player Dan Chiu was reported to have crashed into a guardrail while drunk driving on National Freeway No. 1 in Madou, Tainan in the early morning. Although he escaped unharmed, he faces charges of endangering public safety and is currently under investigation by the prosecutor's office. The team confirmed that the driver involved in the accident was indeed player Dan Chiu. The league stated that starting from 2021, CPBL had implemented stricter penalties for drunk driving, with suspensions increasing from a minimum of 1 game to 10 games, and fines increasing from a minimum of 10,000 NT dollars to 120,000 NT dollars. The maximum penalty is now a 40-game suspension and a fine of 480,000 NT dollars, with even harsher penalties for cases involving severe injuries or death.
