In a CPBL game between the Taiwan Steel Hawks and the Rakuten Monkeys at the Tien-Mou Stadium, highly anticipated draft pick Wu Nianting made his first start and, despite not getting any hits, displayed smooth defensive skills. However, in the 8th inning, he appeared to be experiencing leg cramps while batting and was substituted out for rest. It was revealed post-game by Coach Hong that Wu Nianting withdrew due to overheating and kept apologizing to him. Wu Nianting, who started in the 5th spot and manned third base for the first time in his CPBL career, showcased good plate discipline but struggled with cramps. Coach Hong explained that the heat and lack of recent game experience contributed to this issue, emphasizing the adjustment needed after his time in Japan. Despite the setback, the Taiwan Steel Hawks emerged victorious against the defending champions, with player Chen Wen-chieh regaining form and Coach Hong expressing satisfaction with the team's performance.
