CPI Rise and Mars Acquisition of Kellenova

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July showed a 0.2% increase in consumer prices, marking a yearly rise of 2.9%. Core CPI, which excludes food and fuel, also increased by 0.2% month-over-month, reaching its lowest level since 2021 at 3.2% year-over-year. Additionally, Mars, the well-known family-owned candy company, announced its intention to acquire Kellenova, known for brands like Pringles and Pop-Tarts, in a deal valued at approximately $36 billion.
