As part of the 'Jingping Special Operation,' aimed at combating corruption in the green energy sector, Taipei and Yunlin prosecutors launched a joint operation targeting individuals involved in bribery and extortion. The former assistant of Kuomintang legislator Liao Guodong, Hong Tiansheng, and former Maipu Township chief in Yunlin, Cai Changkun, were among those implicated in the case. The investigation revealed alleged bribery involving millions of dollars and attempts to influence a solar power project bidding process, leading to several arrests, including measures to restrict the movement of key suspects. The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts by the judiciary to root out corruption in the green energy industry.
