On June 24, 2024, authorities uncovered a drug smuggling case involving a luxury yacht carrying a large quantity of methamphetamine. The investigation revealed that Taiwanese fugitive Shen Weichan, along with Chinese nationals Lu Qiyong, Guo Yiyuan, and Zhou Sikuai, planned to transport drugs from Taiwan to destinations like Cambodia and Thailand. Ultimately caught by authorities, Shen was sentenced to 8 years and 2 months, Guo to 7 years, and Zhou to 11 and a half years after their appeals were rejected by the Supreme Court. The legal proceedings also implicated Shen in separate drug and firearm cases, leading to additional convictions.
