On June 27, 2024, at 4:45 am, a case of a homeless dog being beaten with an iron rod at a gas station in Xinbei Shulin occurred. The man unreasonably hit a black stray dog with an iron bar, causing the dog to crawl in pain in an attempt to escape. Despite bystanders' intervention and reporting the incident, the man continued the beating for over 10 minutes before leaving. The New Taipei City Animal Protection Department arrived on the scene, took the dog for medical treatment, and fined the abusive man according to the law. The black dog, despite enduring a 10-minute beating with an iron bar, remains friendly towards humans. The dog suffered only flesh wounds without bone injuries, showing good spirit and appetite, albeit slight weakness in the hind legs due to age. Foster care has been arranged by compassionate individuals. The incident has violated animal protection laws, and the man faces a fine or imprisonment if severe injuries were caused. The incident sheds light on the importance of rejecting violence and seeking professional help for safety.
