South Korean cryptocurrency founder Do Kwon pleaded not guilty to a newly unsealed indictment during his first court appearance in Manhattan after being extradited from Montenegro. Allegations against him include lying to investors from 2018 to 2022, leading to the $40 billion crash of Terraform Labs’ cryptocurrency, TerraUSD, in May 2022. The indictment charges him with conspiracy, fraud, and money laundering, claiming his financial systems were built on deception to mislead investors and regulators.
