CSX has reached a tentative five-year contract agreement with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) to cover approximately 3,400 locomotive engineers. The deal includes wage increases and health welfare improvements but is subject to ratification by union members. CEO Joe Hinrichs emphasized that the agreement promotes competitive pay and work rule changes for a better quality of life. CSX has already ratified agreements for 54% of its unionized workforce, while negotiations continue with the remaining trainmen/conductors.
