On June 18, 2024, in Lukang, Changhua, the Yuzhen Zhai pastry shop was hit by a car driven by a patron, causing damage inside the store. After a night of repairs, the shop resumed normal operations with surveillance footage of the incident being exposed. The driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator, crashing into the store where customers and staff narrowly escaped harm amidst the chaos. The shop incurred significant losses, estimating over a million in damages. The driver, a 61-year-old man, claimed to have mistaken the accelerator for the brake. Besides business losses and store repairs, he will also face substantial compensation claims for injuries and damages caused by the accident.
