Information security company Recorded Future issued a report warning of a hacker group called 'RedJuliett' supported by the Beijing government, launching widespread attacks on Taiwan's government, education, diplomatic agencies, and tech industry. The attacks targeted over 70 organizations in Taiwan, including three universities, a photoelectric engineering company, and a facial recognition technology firm with government contracts. The attacks utilized vulnerabilities with a VPN software, likely aimed at intelligence gathering for China's decision-making on marine issues. Both Chinese and Taiwan foreign ministries haven't responded to inquiries. The hacker group may be based in Fuzhou, close to Taiwan, according to IP analysis.
