Data centers, EVs to significantly boost US power load by 2030, consultancy says

Reported 11 months ago

Consultancy Rystad Energy predicts that data centers and electric vehicles will increase U.S. power demand by around 300 terawatt-hours (TWh) by 2030, equivalent to Turkey's annual electricity consumption. This surge in power load could strain the U.S. electrical grid, but Rystad expects the growth of solar and wind capacity to meet the increased demand. The rise in power consumption is attributed to the expansion of data centers for artificial intelligence development and the shift towards electrifying industries like transportation.
