The priority seating, known as '博愛座', on Taipei's MRT system has sparked a debate on 'intergenerational conflict' as incidents of disputes over giving up seats to those in need have occurred. The Ministry of Health and Welfare has pointed out that the priority seating is necessary for individuals with disabilities, leading to a consensus to maintain the seats but expand the priority to include other individuals with specific needs. However, progress on amending the law to prioritize 'actual individuals in need' has stalled due to legislative setbacks.
