In December, wholesale prices increased by 3.3%, which is below economists' expectations of 3.5%. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a month-over-month rise of only 0.2%, also lower than the anticipated 0.4%. Excluding food and energy, core prices rose 3.5% year-over-year, slightly higher than November's increase of 3.4% but below the expected 3.8%. Some economists view the report as a positive development amid concerns over inflation not falling quickly enough to meet the Federal Reserve's 2% target.
