China, the world’s second-largest beef consumer, is expected to see its beef demand decline for a second consecutive year in 2026 due to a slowing economy and decreased household income. Consumption is projected to drop to 11.04 million tons in the coming year, a decrease from this year's projected 11.17 million tons. Economic pressures, coupled with government crackdowns on expensive banquets, are leading consumers to opt for cheaper meat alternatives, although imports may slightly rise due to reduced domestic production.
