Reported 8 months ago

In an updated student number prediction report released by the Ministry of Education on June 23, 2024, it was projected that the number of elementary school students would fall below one million in the 118th academic year and decrease by 518,000 compared to the 102nd academic year, with an average annual decrease of 29,000 students over the next 16 years. Similar trends were observed for middle and high school students, as well as university freshmen and graduates, reflecting a significant decline caused by decreasing birth rates. These projections indicate a notable impact of declining birth rates on the education system in Taiwan.
