Due to the impact of the Hualien earthquake and competition from dragon boat races in other regions, tourism in Taitung during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday this year was lower than in previous years with popular spots like Brown Boulevard and the Godfrey Gao tree experiencing less crowding. While the number of tourists was slowly picking up, hotel vacancies and reduced visitor numbers were noted. To boost tourism, Taitung County government introduced incentives for staying in legal accommodations in June, offering a chance to win prizes with increasing nights of stay, though overall industry feedback highlighted a significant drop in business compared to previous years.
