During a press conference marking his first month in office, President Lai Ching-te addressed concerns over the low possibility of the amendment proposal being passed, and the potential deepening of political confrontation as Premier Su Tseng-chang raised the amendment proposal less than a month since assuming office. President Lai emphasized that the executive branch's proposal for amendments is not meant to confront the legislature but to offer another opportunity for the parliament to review the bill. He urged the legislature to seize this chance for discussion and to respond to public opinion, with over 50% of the public supporting the executive branch's proposal for amendments.
