In response to increasing threats from the People's Liberation Army, the Taiwanese military's ability to keep up-to-date has become a major concern for the public. The Legislative Yuan's Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee has invited the Defense Ministry to report on the progress and effectiveness of the 'Sea-Air Power Enhancement Plan' and to discuss upgrades like the Hsiung Feng III and extended-range Hsiung Feng III missiles, and Tien Chien III missiles. The government has allocated around NT$236.95 billion for the plan from 2022 to 2026, focusing on foreign procurement of new military equipment and advancing the indigenous defense industry.
