Delta Air Lines has partnered with startup airline Riyadh Air to operate flights between the United States and Saudi Arabia. Riyadh Air, backed by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign-wealth fund, aims to diversify the country’s economy and boost tourism. The airlines plan to implement codesharing initially and are considering a joint venture, pending approval from the U.S. Transportation Department. While Saudi Arabia's flag carrier, Saudia, currently operates flights to the US, this partnership marks the first direct service between the two countries by American airlines.
