On June 20, 2024, the Taiwan Democratic Foundation suspended the nomination of Political Science Professor Lu Yezhong as CEO after Chairman Han Kuo-yu, who was absent from the meeting, was unable to preside over the board meeting. Kuomintang legislator Wang Hong-wei criticized the Democratic Progressive Party for blocking Han Kuo-yu, accusing them of continuing to hinder his role as chairman and now CEO of the foundation. Wang criticized the DPP for engaging in a prolonged opposition against Han Kuo-yu and challenged their respect for democracy and rule of law, stating that the appointment of CEO, as per the Foundation's articles, should be nominated by the chairman, highlighting the ongoing political struggle in Taiwan.
