On June 14, 2024, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Secretary-General Lin You-chang launched a nationwide advocacy campaign against abuse of power in Hualien. Meanwhile, People First Party Chairman Ko Wen-je suggested that the three major parties hold a TV debate instead of local briefings, which was criticized by Lin as 'absurd.' With the legislative review of 'Parliamentary Reform' approaching on the 21st, both DPP and Kuomintang (KMT) are mobilizing across Taiwan. Lin stressed the importance of social dialogue through street advocacy, aiming to deepen Taiwan's democracy through discussion.
