On June 29, 2024, in Taipei, a design company owner was deceived by a fake stock trading group, losing over a million cash and more than 30 million worth of gold. The police targeted a fraud syndicate led by gangsters and surprisingly found a female internet celebrity with a notable presence on Instagram and TikTok as one of the members. She even used the server room as her live broadcast room. The group, including seven individuals across various locations, was caught with large amounts of cash, account books, and fake documents. The victim, a 50-year-old man, was encouraged by a supposed investment teacher in a stock market group to hand over money and gold, only realizing later that he was scammed. The main suspect, identified as a member of the organized crime group and the leader of the scheme, conspired with the cosplayer internet celebrity to commit crimes while continuing to operate their social media accounts. Fans who previously supported the cosplayer are likely regretting their actions now.
