The Detroit Lions have been punished for breaking the rules regarding physical contact during Organized Team Activities (OTAs). They forfeited their scheduled OTA practice on Monday after violating player work rules on-field. The team acknowledged the violation and vowed to adhere to the NFL's Offseason Program rules. The Lions are the first team this offseason to receive such a penalty, although similar incidents have occurred in recent years with other teams. The Lions had to adjust their practice schedule following the announcement to comply with regulations and end their offseason program on a different note from their originally planned aggressive approach, as famously expressed by coach Dan Campbell during his 2021 introductory news conference.
