To promote the development of the private economy, the Chinese State Council has announced six major focus areas, including optimizing the environment for private economic development, increasing support for key elements, strengthening legal protection, enhancing policy coordination and implementation supervision, improving the capabilities of private enterprises, and fostering a supportive social atmosphere for private economic development. Statistics show a significant rise in the number and contribution of private enterprises in China from 2012 to 2023. Despite the growth, challenges remain such as market access, resource acquisition, protection of property rights and entrepreneur interests, policy implementation, government integrity, overdue payments, and the need for improved corporate governance in some private enterprises.
