The Central Weather Bureau stated that the La Niña phenomenon is developing with decreasing sea temperatures in the eastern tropical Pacific. Historical data suggests that during La Niña years, summers in Taiwan may become hotter with typhoons forming closer to the island. The Bureau forecasts two to four typhoons near Taiwan from June to November this year, which is considered below to normal levels. The possibility of typhoons affecting Taiwan will increase in La Niña years, with relatively weaker intensities expected due to unfavorable development conditions or land interactions.
