Did Zheng Chenggong Die of Dengue Fever? Expert Reveals 'As if Possessed by the Devil'

Reported 12 months ago

As summer brings about the season of dengue fever outbreaks, various regions in Taiwan are on high alert to prevent the spread of the disease. According to historical records, the death of Zheng Chenggong may be related to dengue fever. The term 'dengue' originates from the Swahili word 'Ki-dinga pepo,' meaning 'suddenly cramp up, as if possessed by the devil.' With the harsh environment and prevalent mosquitoes in Taiwan during that time, Zheng Chenggong's physical and mental exhaustion from continuous battles made him susceptible to the disease. His symptoms and behavior closely matched those of dengue fever, indicating the possibility that he died from this deadly illness.
