Diesel Benchmark Rises for the Second Consecutive Week

Reported about 1 year ago

The benchmark price used for fuel surcharges increased for the second consecutive week, reaching $3.769 a gallon according to the Department of Energy/Energy Information Administration. Despite subdued demand and no significant disruptions in supply, the price of Brent crude has surged, potentially due to market manipulation by trading companies Gunvor and Trafigura. The rise in crude prices has not affected diesel prices, which have steadily increased over the past week relative to Brent.
