Two meat processing plants in Henan and Shandong, China, were exposed by local media for serious food safety violations, including workers stepping on goose intestines to squeeze out feces and urinating directly in drains during the production process. The unsanitary conditions inside the factories were described, with workers smoking, intestines scattered on the floor, and walls stained. Apart from hygiene issues, child labor under 16 years old was also reported at one of the plants. The products, including duck intestines, were found to be distributed to various provinces in China, with some labeled as 'ready-to-eat' despite contamination concerns like hair found in the packaging.
