Dispute at Popular Café During Long Weekend

Reported about 1 year ago

During the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend, a customer and friends visited a popular café in Pingtung with a sea view, but encountered issues when there were no available seats after receiving a number tag upon entry. The customer was stopped by staff when trying to leave without purchasing anything, leading to a dispute. The café owner defended the policy, stating that finding available seats when it's full is challenging and refuted the claim that customers must consume to exit as baseless. A lawyer mentioned that forcing customers to spend money could be considered extortion, and if the café promises a seat with the number tag but fails to deliver, it may constitute fraud or incomplete payment, allowing customers to change their minds about entering.
