Reported 5 months ago

Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof, who recently fled Iran to avoid an 8-year prison sentence, will attend the Cannes premiere of his new film, "The Seed of the Sacred Fig." Rasoulof escaped Iran by foot through the mountains and is now in Germany. The film portrays an investigating judge for Iran’s Revolutionary Court struggling with his conscience amidst protests. Rasoulof, a prominent critic of the Tehran regime, has been supported by the Directors Guild of America and a group of international filmmakers in condemning the Iranian authorities for their treatment of Rasoulof and other artists, advocating for artistic freedom.
